City News and Community Events
The City of Sunny Isles Beach is active with civic engagement and community improvements. A City Commission Workshop was held on October 13 to review the agenda for their upcoming meeting, promoting transparent governance. In a move to engage younger residents, a ‘Teen Talk’ event was also recently held. These events follow the celebrated grand opening of the new Intracoastal Sports Park, a significant addition to the city’s recreational facilities aimed at promoting health and wellness. The city’s commitment to innovation was recently recognized as they received the 2026 FLGISA Technology Excellence Award. Residents should also be aware of ongoing park updates. The playground at Samson Oceanfront Park is closed for a complete replacement until October 19. Additionally, Bella Vista Bay Park remains closed for extensive renovations.
Real Estate and Construction Updates
The skyline of Sunny Isles Beach continues its dramatic transformation with several high profile luxury condominium projects making significant progress. The city has approved the site plan for the St. Regis Residences, a dual tower 62 story project. Nearby, the 62 story Bentley Residences is also advancing, with an anticipated completion around 2027. Another major development, The Miami Beach Club, a 62 story condominium, has also received approval. While the ultra luxury market shows strength, the broader real estate market for older buildings is currently favoring buyers. Recent market analysis indicates that a significant number of single family homes have sold below their original asking price, suggesting buyers may have more negotiating power. A recent study has also brought attention to the issue of building subsidence in some coastal high rises in the area, a topic of discussion for property owners.
Beach and Ocean Conditions
Beachgoers are advised to exercise caution. Today, the beach is flying a yellow flag, indicating moderate surf and or currents, and a purple flag, warning of the presence of dangerous marine life, specifically jellyfish. There is a high risk of life threatening rip currents. The water temperature is a warm 83 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 28 degrees Celsius). The surf is relatively calm with small waves. The UV index is high, so sun protection is strongly recommended for anyone on the sand. It is also important to note that the Regalia Beach Access at 19575 Collins Avenue remains closed until further notice due to beach erosion. Today’s high tide was at 12:54 PM, and the next low tide will be at 7:03 PM.
