Spring has been a wonderful time in Sunny Isles Beach, and I want to take a moment to reflect on what’s made it so special. It starts with you, our residents, and the dedicated city staff who work behind the scenes to bring our community together.
We kicked off the year celebrating our city’s anniversary, followed by a lively Egg Scramble that brought families out from across the community. Our events team shined, successfully creating a welcoming and fun vibe, and the turnout showed just how much our residents value experiences.
April gave us even more to celebrate. At Sunny Spaces, held on World Art Day, we unveiled winning art pieces at the Gateway Artway. What makes this event so meaningful to me is that the artwork comes from our own residents. Your creativity and talent are on full display, and our media team does a beautiful job giving that talent the stage it deserves.
Later in April, our police department and ocean rescue team hosted the annual Casting with a Cop fishing event on the pier. Watching families, kids, and officers side by side, just enjoying a morning of fishing together, is exactly the kind of connection that strengthens a community.
These events matter because they reflect who we are. Artists sharing their craft. Families spending time together. Neighbors getting to know one another. That is the heart of Sunny Isles Beach. It takes real coordination across multiple city departments and months of planning to bring these moments to life, and our staff approaches that work with genuine passion. But what truly makes each event memorable is the people who show up, participate, and make this community feel like home.
I’m proud of what we’re building together, and I look forward to everything this summer has in store.
