City Meetings and Community Events
The City of Sunny Isles Beach invites the public to participate in important civic meetings today, May 14, 2026. A City Commission Workshop featuring special presentations and discussion items will be held, along with a Local Planning Agency Meeting. Both events will take place at the David P. Samson Commission Chambers located in the Sunny Isles Beach Government Center. These meetings offer residents an opportunity to stay informed and engage with local governance. Looking ahead, the city is hosting a community beach cleanup on Saturday, May 16, starting at the Ellen Wynne Beach Access. On the same day, the Miami Dade County Tax Collector’s Office will be providing mobile driver license services in the city. In a recent message, Mayor Larisa Svechin reflected on a successful spring season of community connection, highlighting well attended events like the city’s anniversary celebration and the Egg Scramble, and praised the dedication of city staff and resident participation.
Real Estate and Construction Updates
Sunny Isles Beach continues to see significant activity in its luxury real estate sector. Several high end condominium projects are slated for completion in 2026, appealing to buyers who prefer a shorter period between contract and move in. These near completion projects offer greater certainty for buyers compared to new pre construction contracts which may not deliver until 2027 or 2028. The skyline is also set for a major addition with the approval of a 62 story, 820 foot tower at 19051 Collins Avenue. This project, a joint venture by Related Group, Dezer Development, and BH Group, will become the tallest building in Sunny Isles Beach. The development will replace the older Miami Beach Club condominium complex. In terms of infrastructure, residents should be aware of a long term southbound sidewalk closure on Collins Avenue near Heritage Park, which is expected to last through the beginning of June. Additionally, the Collins and Harding Avenue Re alignment Project is underway.
Beach and Ocean Conditions
As of the latest reports, beachgoers can expect generally calm conditions. The surf forecast indicates that wave heights are not expected to exceed one meter, making the sea suitable for swimming. The water temperature was recently recorded at 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 Celsius). The ocean is currently under a green flag advisory, indicating low hazard conditions. The dominant wave period is around 10 seconds with a wave height of approximately 2 feet. The water temperature is a warm 84 degrees Fahrenheit (28.7 Celsius). Visitors are always encouraged to check the flags on lifeguard towers for the most current conditions and to swim near a lifeguard.
