City Commemorates Nation’s 250th Anniversary
The City of Sunny Isles Beach is proudly joining the nation in celebrating America 250, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Official city announcements highlight this significant national milestone. In other recent civic updates, the city has adopted a new ordinance restricting the use of motorized scooters to individuals aged 16 and older to enhance public safety. The community is also rallying to provide support for those affected by recent earthquakes in Venezuela, with the city promoting relief efforts. Residents should also be aware of a new lane and sidewalk closure. The northbound lane at 201 178 Drive will experience closures from today, July 6, until July 15, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. This is part of ongoing improvements and projects in the city.
Skyscrapers Reshaping the Oceanfront Skyline
The skyline of Sunny Isles Beach continues its dramatic transformation with several major luxury residential projects underway. The St. Regis Residences is a highly anticipated twin tower project, with the first tower expected to be completed around 2026. Another significant development is the Bentley Residences, the first Bentley branded residential tower in the world, which will feature a patented car elevator allowing residents to park their vehicles in private sky garages. Furthermore, a 62 story, 820 foot condominium tower has been approved at 19051 Collins Avenue, which upon completion would become the tallest building in Sunny Isles Beach. The project, a collaboration between The Related Group, Dezer Development, and BH Group, will replace the older Miami Beach Club building. Recent housing market data from May 2026 shows a median home sale price of around $538,000, though the market for high end condos remains very active. The market is seeing longer times for properties to sell, indicating a shift in conditions for buyers and sellers.
Beach and Ocean Conditions
Beachgoers today can expect green and purple flags on the shore, indicating generally calm conditions but also the presence of dangerous marine life. Specifically, there is an advisory for jellyfish in the water. The air temperature is a warm 92 degrees Fahrenheit, with the water temperature at a pleasant 83 degrees Fahrenheit. Waves are calm, not expected to exceed one meter, making the sea suitable for swimming. Tides for today include a high tide at 12:41 PM and a low tide at 6:40 PM. The UV Index is very high at 9, so sun protection is strongly recommended.
Other Local Updates
In community news, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department has become the first in Florida to deploy a non beta Drone as a First Responder program, in partnership with Skydio and Axon, aiming to improve emergency response times and officer safety. This enhances the department’s technological capabilities. The city continues to focus on safety and community engagement through various initiatives and programs designed to serve the more than 20,000 residents and over one million annual visitors.
