Sunny Isles Beach is enthusiastically joining the nationwide celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. On this significant Independence Day, the city is marking the occasion with special initiatives for its residents. The City Commission has issued an official proclamation recognizing America 250. To commemorate this historic milestone, a special magnetic pin featuring the America 250 logo has been designed for residents. If you are a resident, you can receive a free pin by presenting your Resident ID Card at the Government Center, Pelican Community Park, or the Welcome Center at Gateway Center. As you travel along Collins Avenue, you will notice vibrant and patriotically themed banners displayed on the light poles, capturing the spirit of America with designs of the stars and stripes. In observance of the holiday, city offices including the Government Center, Gateway Center, Pelican Community Park, and The Spot are closed. However, the city’s bus service will operate on its normal schedule, and parks will be open during their regular hours. The Police Department continues to operate 24/7 to ensure public safety. The city is also continuing its Humanitarian Relief Drive for Venezuela, encouraging community support for this important cause.
Real estate and construction updates
The real estate market in Sunny Isles Beach is undergoing a noticeable transformation in mid 2026. Reports indicate a significant increase in property inventory, which is creating a market more favorable to buyers and leading to more price negotiations. While the market for existing luxury condos is adjusting, new construction projects continue to reshape the city’s iconic skyline. Among the most anticipated developments are the Bentley Residences, which is expected to be completed in late 2026 or early 2027. This project has garnered considerable attention for its partnership with the luxury car brand and its innovative ‘Dezervator’, a car elevator that allows residents to park their vehicles directly in their own units. The city commission has also approved the development of a new 62 story oceanfront condominium tower, which is set to become the tallest building in Sunny Isles Beach. Residents should also be aware of a major roadway improvement project by the Florida Department of Transportation that began on June 30, 2026, along State Road A1A Collins Avenue. This project is expected to last for approximately six months and will involve some lane and sidewalk closures during non peak hours.
Beach and ocean conditions
For those planning to celebrate the holiday at the beach, the ocean conditions are currently favorable. The wave height in Sunny Isles Beach today is not expected to exceed three feet, which is considered suitable and safe for swimming. The sea is forecasted to remain calm in the coming days, providing a pleasant environment for beachgoers. Seas are generally around two feet with a light chop in the intracoastal waters. Beachgoers are always encouraged to stay aware of their surroundings and pay attention to any posted advisories from Sunny Isles Beach Ocean Rescue.
Any other important local news
As residents celebrate Independence Day, there are numerous opportunities to view spectacular fireworks displays throughout South Florida. While Sunny Isles Beach does not have its own large scale display, several nearby communities are hosting events. The Town of Bay Harbor Islands, the Town of Surfside, and Bal Harbour Village are holding a joint celebration with fireworks at 9 p.m. that will be visible from Haulover Beach Park. Haulover Park will also host its own watch party with food trucks and live music from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Further south, the City of Miami Beach will have a patriotic concert followed by fireworks, and Bayfront Park in downtown Miami is hosting a large America’s 250th celebration with live music, a drone light show, and a fireworks display over Biscayne Bay. The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department reminds everyone celebrating to do so responsibly and notes that glass bottles and open fires are not permitted on the beach.
