City Announces Community Events and Important Traffic Updates
The City of Sunny Isles Beach continues to foster community engagement with a ‘Teen Talk’ roundtable discussion scheduled for this evening, June 9th, at The Spot. This event provides a platform for teenagers to share their ideas for future programming. Looking ahead, residents can participate in a community beach cleanup on June 13th, and a City Commission Workshop is scheduled for June 18th to discuss special presentations and other items. In addition to community events, the city has issued several traffic advisories. A daytime sidewalk closure northbound at 18325 Collins Avenue is in effect from June 8th through June 10th between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Furthermore, a nightly lane and sidewalk closure is impacting eastbound and southbound traffic at 18590 Collins Avenue from June 8th through June 19th, between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
Skyline Transformation with Luxury Residences
The Sunny Isles Beach skyline is undergoing a significant transformation with several high profile residential projects. A notable development is the vertical construction of the 62 story Bentley Residences. This luxury tower, a collaboration between Dezer Development and Bentley Motors, will feature 216 condominiums, each with a private in unit sky garage accessed by a unique Dezervator vehicle elevator system. Another major project shaping the city’s future is The Estates at Acqualina, which is the subject of recent real estate discussions comparing it with other luxury properties in the South Florida market. The St. Regis Residences and the Miami Beach Club are also among the approved developments that will add hundreds of new luxury units to the city’s housing market. The real estate market in the area is seeing a trend where newer luxury buildings are experiencing price growth, while older properties are seeing a slower performance.
Beach and Ocean Conditions Advisory
As of the latest reports, beachgoers in Sunny Isles Beach should exercise caution. The city’s Ocean Rescue division has issued advisories for the presence of jellyfish and a moderate risk of rip currents. Yellow and purple flags are flying to indicate these conditions. The water temperature is approximately 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Swimmers are advised to be aware of their surroundings and to check with lifeguards on duty for the most current safety information. The surf is reported to be minor, with knee high or smaller waves from local windswell, creating generally poor conditions for surfing.
Focus on Community Wellbeing and Safety
The City of Sunny Isles Beach is highlighting its commitment to community health and safety. The Ocean Rescue division recently earned a prestigious national certification from the United States Lifesaving Association, a testament to their dedication to public safety. In addition to safety, the city is focused on enhancing the quality of life for its residents through various capital improvement projects. These include the Collins Avenue Undergrounding project to place utility lines underground and renovations at Bella Vista Bay Park. The new Intracoastal Sports Park is also under construction and is anticipated to be completed in late 2025 or early 2026.
